The liquid should be pumpable and sprayed by spray atomizers/nozzles in the chamber of spray dryer machine, and the process gas treated and heated will be blown into chamber, contact with the droplets. The solids, particles or powders will be formed after the solvent evaporated. Then the solids will be moving fast with the process gas, and be collected by cyclone and filter bags.
During the process, heat will be absorbed during evaporation, and the duration the solid contact hot gas is very short. The active ingredients will not be harmed if the formulation and process parameters is optimized.
Spray drying is widely used in API and ingredients, mico-capsule and oral dry suspension manufacture and other non-pharmaceutical products.
